Glass color is chosen to encourage chemical reactions between the 2 glasses. The glass is cut into strips and then stacked next to each other in offsetting patterns to create a controlled chaos to occur.
Over 4 pounds of glass make up this 16" x 12" bowl. The strips measure 3/8" wide. There are 7 windows of transparent glass inserted in the bowl. After the plate of glass is fired it is then hand worked to create the smooth edges and shapes and then slumped into the large serving bowl.
