This is one of those plates that started with an idea and a challenge. When someone says "use stringers differently" all I could think of was tennis. I set out to create a lady with a racket hitting a tennis ball. Any lady can hit a tennis ball but I needed to make her identify with tennis in Dallas. The big league organization here is TCD. Next I needed to get a playful background. What is more dainty than a flower. You cannot imagine how much time was spent on this figure. Each string of glass was hand shaped and melted over a candle flame.
This plate measure about 9" in diameter and is 2 full layers of glass. It is slumped and has a slight raise of the edges.
