Black glass coated with metals is cute apart in 1/4" strips and pieced back together in a herringbone-like pattern. Then taken apart and transferred to the kiln two assure that the pattern stays crips. That means there are 68 moving pieces to this puzzle. The 11" x 11" plate is then fired and the edges are work by hand to assure smoothness and polish. The last step in the firing process is two "slump" it into a form with wavy edges. This very time invasive pieces sparkles in the light.
Because of the metal coating food to be eaten should not be set on the metals.
