Real rose leaves and buds were coated with glass and fired in the kiln. This technique is called Fossil Vitra. The flower is now fit into another design to make a plate and fired in the kiln for a second time. The edges are hand sanded to a smooth finish and placed in the sushi mold to shape the glass.
This 5" x 5" sushi dish has undergone 3 firings in the kiln.
