David chose St. Columbkille. A Gaelic Saint from the mid 500’s. David identified with St. Columbkille. David was going to be confirmed at St. Columbkille parish.
The research on St. Columbkille was not as expansive as I would have liked. He was trying to convert the Irish and mid 500 AD was a long time ago. Columbkille was an evangelist. He established 3 monasteries in Ireland and then spread catholicism to Scotland. I decided that Columbkille had been touched by the Holy Spirt and that needed to be represented on this cross. Ireland meant the cross would be green. I would use the clover to symbolize the spread of christianity. The plans for the cross were set.
